Network Sharing-Permissions
Hello, I have been trying to get file sharing between 3 machines (running Vista HP, Vista HB, 7) working on my home network for some time now. I have pretty much everything setup, however when I go to set the folder permissions for my workgroup (done by clicking locations.. in the sharing permissions wizard) only the current computer I am on comes up as a potential sharing target. Where are the other computers on my network which I desire to give permission to? As a result when I try to access the folder the error "Acess Denied" error code 0x80070005 I would appreciate any help on this

i suggest you set permissions individually for each shared folder and grant co-owner permissions to usernames rather than computer names. Tunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"

Hi, Please try the following suggestions to troubleshoot this issue: 1. Check if you can ping the computer with the command “ping computer name” or “ping IP Address”. 2. Please check if you can access the share folder with “\\computer name\folder” or “\\IP Address\ folder”. 3. Temporarily disable or remove all the security software (firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.) on the computers and check if it works. 4. Boot the system to Safe Mode with networking and see if the issue persists. If not, please also boot to Clean Boot environment to determine the possible cause. 5. Disable “Password protected sharing” in Windows 7 and Vista. Hope this helps.
