Network Shares disconnect
We have a Windows 2003 R2 Server with Exchange Server 2003 on the same box.We have just installed a number of Windows 7 Professional Workstations and have been having a number of connection problems since installation. We also have Windows XP and Vista Ultimate machines that do not experience these issues.Shared drives are mapped with a logon script.Windows 7 users are reporting that they are losing connection to Network shared drives. This occurs when they are actually working on PC's. and PC's are not idle. On checking, the network drives have a Red X showing disconnected. When trying to use UNC path to share, drives are not accessible. When trying to map drives manually, drives are not accessible.Users can ping the server using server name, browse the Internet and send and receive emails, which points to it not being a NIC issue.Logging the user off the machine and logging on again still does not reconnect drives. The only way to get the drives connected is to restart the machine and get user to log on normally. Can anyone assist with this issueThanks

Apparently you need to tell Windows that you want to use the machine as a file server and that it should allocate resources accordingly. Set the following registry key to ‘1′: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache and set the following registry key to ‘3′: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\Size After making these changes and restarting, I haven’t seen this issue arise again. Fixed!
