Network Printers on clients continuouslygo offline.
My end users are experiencing an issue where the network printers are showing as offline. A spooler restart brings them back online on the client machine. It does not happen as a group, each machine does it individually. The printers on the server remain online and never show an error in the event log. The client machines also do not show any events in the logs, it just mysteriously occurs without warning. The problem has been increasing daily, the issue originally started 45 days ago and was intermittent and has become progressively worse as time has gone on. I have placed the print drivers in isloation mode on the server and client, I have turned off SNMP on the printers. The print server has been online for some time without issue until now. I have three offices and only one is experiencing this issue. We have a common image deployed to all offices. I am baffled, it is a ghost leaving no traces of errors. Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. First of all, please kindly refer to the following article to see if it could help you: A computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 intermittently cannot use a shared network printer to print If this issue persists, perform the following steps after backing up the registry 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK . 2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print 3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. 4. Type SNMPLegacy, and then press ENTER. 5. Right-click SNMPLegacy, and then click Modify. 6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK. Note:This hotfix does not work if the SNMPLegacy registry entry is set to 0. If this registry entry is set to 1, the print queue status is displayed as "Ready" instead of as "Offline" when a printer device does not respond to SNMP commands. 7. Exit Registry Editor. Hope it helps. Alex Zhao TechNet Subscriber Support in forum.
