Network Password In Windows 7
Cannot connect to a share from Win7 x64 Ultimate system to Win2003 Standard PC in windows explorer without getting Windows Security popup box. Never occurs if Vista, XP machine used in place of Win7 box with same static IP settings. Systems are on the same Workgroup, no other systems are on the switch, Win7 default gateway is the Win2003 box. Network info: systems are on an internal localized network using static IPs going through a common switch. Systems can ping each other. Win7 box can remote into Win2003 box. Win7 box has no Homegroup set. When password box is displayed no account will function, admin account info from Win7 box or Win2003 box will not work. Have Firewalls off, dropped the pants of both systems as much as possible yet still get the password box Everyone online seems to have similar gripes about Win7... I am on an internal test network and have no security concerns, just need the systems to talk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Temporarily disable firewall on each machine. 2. Assure the following services are started: Computer Browser, Server, Workstation 3. Modify relevant settings on Windows 7 machine. a. Click Start and open Control Panel. b. Open "Network and Sharing Center" and click "Advanced sharing settings". c. Expand the current network profile (such as "Home or Work"), and then select the following options: "Turn on Network Discovery", "Turn on file and printer sharing", "Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders", "Turn off password protected sharing" 4. Enable Guest account on each machine and login on the shared information for a test. If there is any error message, please capture and upload it for research. Thanks, Novak
