Network Icon doesn't work sometimes
Hi all,Sometimes, the network icon in the taskbar doesn't work. I click on it, and the window which should appear and show me all available WiFi networks just doesn't. The only solution i have found is to restart the computer. It doesn't get better if i wait.Have you noticed it too ? What would be the cause of this problem ?Cheers,Vincent

I suggest you temporary disable anti-spyware and anti-virus. If the issue still occurs, I suggest you try ShellExView. Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information. Run ShellExView, in the pane sort the entries with manufacturers. Disable all non-Microsoft *.dll files, and check the result. If the issue does not occur, one of the files can be the culprit. We could narrow down it one by one.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hi,Thanks for your answer and sorry for replying so late. I had to wait to have the problem again to be able to try the solution you proposed me.So, I have tried ShellExView but the running softwares seem to be exactly the same. You can see the screenshots and a video I made here: http://cid-c82aa41d56127512.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/.Public. You can compare Before1 and After1, and also Before2 and After2.Cheers,Vincent

Hi again,I waited for the network icon not to work again and made another video (which you can watch full screen). http://cid-c82aa41d56127512.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/Icon2.aviAs you can see, all non-Microsoft plug-ins are now disabled, but it doesn't change a thing.Ibelieve it could be related to loosing internet access without being disconnected from the routeur. But I'm not quite sure about that and it's not easy for me to test as i'm working on a public access network most of the time.Thank you for your patience,Vincent

Alright I haven't had the problem in a long time, it seems that it's been fixed in a windows update or something... anyways thanks

Hey, Sorry for bringing this back up. It is true I hadn't had the problem in a long time (strangely it coincided with a trip to China for work. Good vibes ? Nah just kidding of course). Alright so it is still the same problem, sometimes I click on the wifi-network icon next to the clock and the window which should be brought up just isn't. I need to use the "connection link" in the start menu. Minor bug of course but it's... how to say... exposed. I just tried again the solution that has kindly been offered to me by Arthur but it won't work. :-/ An idea anyone ? Cheers, Vincent

I am too suffering this problem from few days. It seems that the network icon is not responding to clicks. This happens after I resume my PC from Hibernation. The only solution remains is to restart Windows Explorer. The "Connect to Network" link in control panel, however, works.
