Network Drive Does Not Reconnect on Logon
Hello, and thanks for taking a look at my question. I feel sure I am not alone in wondering why, when I map a Network Drive and check the 'Reconnect at Logon' checkbox, it doesn't! I tried adding a Windows entry in Credential Manager. I used the username 'Administrator' when initially entering the details to set the entry to Enterprise and then edited the entry to set my actual username. This didn't help. In fact after a restart the entry disappeared. Do I have to precede the username with a Domain? (dommain\username). It really shouldn't be so difficult. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards Chris

Hi, After checking this issue, may I know the following details: 1. Which is type of the file system, Windows server 2003? XP? Or NAS? 2. Could you reconnect the drive manually when you logon? Here we can try to the following steps to check the result: 1. Disable the firewall and antivirus on Windows 7 computer and check the result. 2. Please open gpedit.msc from Start Search box. Then locate to the following policy: Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Network security: LAN Manager authentication level Please change “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”. 3. I think we can try to create a *.bat file to perform this map operation during every start. Just go into your start menu, go to all programs, then right click on the "Startup" folder and choose open, and then create a new text file, open it, put your batch script in it, save it, and then rename it from reconnect.txt to reconnect.bat. Regarding how to write this script, you could refer to the following article: Windows 7 Still Not (Always) Reconnecting to Mapped Drive Hope it helps. Hello Alex Thank you for following this up. Your suggestion of the Windows Security setting was on the button. I made the change and then everything burst into life as it should. Sometimes I wonder if Microsoft put these little challenges in for fun! Regards Chris
