Network Daignostics poor: Knows only one solution to AP problem
The network diagnostics knows only one solution to an access point problem: restarting the router. It will even suggest it when it is obvious that the real problem is something else. For an example, see these merged screen-clippings: http://cid-cc8f00330eec08aa.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Windows%207%20RC/Network%20Diagnostics%20bug.JPG?ccr=7498. Windows Vista would have told me to try moving closer to the access point.Try it yourself: Click on the network icon on the notification bar.Select a network far away.Try to connect. When it says it is unnable to, tell it to run diagnostics.Diagnostics will try reseting your network adapter, and then will tell you to restart the router or contact the Network admin.Vista would have done this: run test and discover that network signal is too poor. Then tell you to move closer, or take other steps to increase signal quality (sending you to a help file). I have tried, and you have to almost manually get windows to reset the network adapter when it knows that the signal is the real problem.
