Network Bridging and VOIP
Greetings, It appears that maybe the bridging feature in Vista is not a 100% inclusive bridge. While I am able to connect a LAN cable from a PC to my Vista laptop and access the Internet that my Vista Laptop is connected to via a wireless connection I can not seem to get my VOIP MTA to work over this same bridge. If I plug the VOIP MTA directly into the Wireless routers ethernet ports it works so it is not a firewall issue. You are probably shaking your head thinking why would someone want to do this. Here is why. I am getting ready to travel and If I take my VOIP MTA with me I can have my home phone wherever I go. I can make unlimited local and long distance calls just like I do at home. Hotels charge outragous amounts for long distance calls. Unfortunately very few hotels give you an ethernet connection in the rooms anymore. Most only provide wireless. So I was hoping I could use my Laptop to provide a wireless to LAN bridge for my VOIP MTA. Thanx Frank
