Network 'permissions' - - -
Desktop is running Win 7 Pro 64-bit, LAN to Huawei 960 3G modem/router wirelss gateway to Laptop running Win 7 Ult 64-bit. Homegroup network set up. Both computers can and do access the internet via the Huawei gateway. Each computer can 'see' the other, to the extent of seeing each HDD and the list of shared folders, but then comes a 'Network Error Windows cannot access' - etc-saying I do not have permission to access the respective folders. Contact my network administrator to request access. On both computers the security for all folders is setup for 'Everyone' to fully control all folders. I am the administrator, but I do not know how to request access. I join the homegroup . The Homegroup network password is given. Network discovery is turned on, File and printer sharing - on Public folder sharing - on 128-bit encription for both computers is on Password protected sharing is off, then I allow Windows to manage homegroup connections. The strange thing is that all folders on the network were accessible prior to my changing the desktop from 32-bit to 64-bit. I have taken ownership of every file and folder on each computer. Sharing is arranged for every file also. Both computers see each other. It seems to be an administrative problem that is beyond me. From the Control panel Network and Sharing Centre - on each computer, (This computer) connects to the home network and to the internet. The computer has joined the HomeGroup, the Desktop via LAN and the Laptopvia wireess network connection. But on clicking on the 'See full map' I get the SSID, but "Windows cannot discover any computer or device. Despite which, I can use Windows Explorer to see the network and all drives and the shared folders on each computer, but then when trying to access the folders, - Network Error - Windows cannot access . . . . Why the bl***y h**l not? I am that damned angry and frustrated. Permissions, access, permission denied etc. There is no doubt an answer, but I just cannot find it. I am just getting nowhere. Please help a very angry literally Ancient Brit in Sweden.
