The conditions for this problem in the article do not apply to my PC. it came w/ Xp already installed from the manufacturer. What else could cause this problem? The Connect using a dial-up modem option in the New Connection Wizard is unavailable (appears dimmed).Any help would be great.

HiMay be you want to explain what is that you need to do.Do you need a choice between Dialup and other type of connection (are you sure that there is a dialup modem in the computer).Do you have a broadband service that actually needs an ID and password (what type of broadband).Since the early days of Internet (when Win XP was released) alot of things changed in the big real world.Logons are usually done through the browser, is your browser is set correctly.
