Netsh interface dump question
Hello, A question, I used to dump my interface settings in WinXP via netsh, my IP is set to static and added dns addresses as well. Now i've changed to Win7 and if I dump my settings through netsh interface dump > c:\home.txt no dns is mentioned. I've searched the online resources but only got me confused. Could someone please give an example how to dump all the settings? Thank you in advance

I also don't see a way to do that. So presuming you want to dump your settings to a config file for later use switching between networks I would try...1. Create the dump file, ie. homeConfig.txt for example.2. Create a batch file that executes the dump file.3. Add to the batch file the netsh commands to add whatever DNS server(s) you want to use. Here is the exact syntax...4. Run the batch file as needed....or use free utility like NetSetMan to quickly switch between networks...Does that make sense?MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

Thanks for the replies. What I understand from it, Netsh functionality has improved with the new versions of Windows, but lost some of that with the dump command, Isn't this an Item for network administrators? Of course one can add the DNS addresses in the script, but that defies the purpose of the dump command. regards, plikthai
