Netgear WG311T driver
Hi, I was able to install my Netgear wg311t wifi card under Windows 7 build 7000 using Vista driver. Since I've upgraded to 7100 I'm not able to install it. Windows 7 doesn't recognize the driver. Is there any workaround ? Thanks !

Can you connect to the Internet through a wired connection? If so, run Windows Update, which will look online for a driver for the Netgear card.Steve Winograd MS-MVP (Windows Desktop Experience)

Hi Steve ! Thanks for helphing ! :D Yes, I do have an Internet connection which allows me to run Windows Update. Let me give you more informations about this issue... I've first tried to install my card with the latest official driver from Netgear: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/747 After installing the driver, Windows was not able to install my card. I've tried to use the "compatibility option" with Windows XP and Windows Vista without any success. I've tried to run Windows Update many many times but found nothing. At this point the card was recognized as an "Ethernet Controler" in the device manager. As WG311T is compatible with Atheros Driver, I've tried using all the latest Atheros driver, playing with "Compatibiliy Options" without any positive result. Now the card appears in the device manager as "NETGEAR 108 Mbps Wireless PCI Adaptater WG311T" with an "error code 12" in the device's properties. Here comes the "funny" part of this issue: 2 days ago, while running Windows Update, I figured out that there was an update available for WG311T !!! So before installing this, I've checked in the device manager and the device was working properly ! o_O The device appears as "NETGEAR 108 Mbps Wireless Adaptater WG311T #2" ! I've check the device properties and the driver was a Microsoft one! I decided to install the update but after rebooting the card was not working anymore. I've check in the device manager and the card was there with the Atheros driver and the "error code 12". I tried to uninstall then reinstall using Windows Update without any success. Sometimes when I start Windows the card is working and recognize as "NETGEAR 108 Mbps Wireless Adaptater WG311T #2" with Microsoft driver... Sometime the card is not working and is recognize as "NETGEAR 108 Mbps Wireless Adaptater WG311T" with Atheros driver and the "error code 12". This is totaly random and I didn't figured out yet why the card is behaving like this! Best Regards, Julien

That's quite a tale, Julien. At this point, I'd go to Device Manager, un-install all instances of the card, and reboot. I wouldn't try to manually install a driver. If Windows 7, doesn't automatically install a driver, I'd run Windows Update and give it a chance.Steve Winograd MS-MVP (Windows Desktop Experience)

Hi ! I never had two instances of the card at the same time, even when it appears as "NETGEAR 108 Mbps Wireless Adaptater WG311T #2". Anyway, I un-installed it, removed the drivers I was testing, and rebooted the computer. Windows 7 tried to install it, but recognize it as an "Ethernet Controler" and failed to install it . Here is my Devive Manager . And you could check my Updates History . Thanks for your time :D Julien

I'm having a similar problem, but getting a code 10(device can not start). Worked fine on 7000 once I used the Windows update, but now on 7100 after installing the update get the above error code. Tried the netgear driver, but that didnt work either
