I've been unable to get the Netgear WG111 V2 adapter to work on either of my two new desktop computers with Vista. I spoke to tech support at Netgear, and even got the latest update, and also to Dell, both of whom informed me the WG111 adapter is not yet compatible with Vista. If you got it to work, I'd sure love to know how. I didn't upgrade, though. The computers are new and had Vista installed already.

My partner and I purchased 2 new Dell computers with Windows Vista Premium, and when trying to connect wirelessly with Netgear WG111 v2 adapters, we had a problem with the installation! We managed to get through the first part of the installation, but when it tells you to connect the adapter to the USB and click next, nothing comes up! The computer tries loading something but then seems to just give up! I haven't telephoned anybody, maybe I should just try again in a few weeks! The man at PCWorld reckons they should work, but I think he was just a bit peeved that I have a Dell computer! :)

Bit narked about this. Vista upgrade wizard says need new driver. I went to netgear and got it. Installed Vista Home Preminum. Tried the new driver - diddly squat Went to netgear investigated further - got the beta files - still diddly squat - damn hardware wizard finds the INF file but when I wait for it to populate the list of adapters it comes up with bugger all. What a pile of pooh

What can I say but YES YES YES Got the bugger to work. OK Go through normal Install on the XP Driver. At the end of it it wont find the device. To borrow some words from a long departed hero - dont panic. Next go to the control panel, System, Device Manager, and you'll see your driver hung there. Simply update the driver and viola! Not even a reboot required! Got this from Windows Vista Lounge and it worked a treat! Good luck

With a clean install of Win Vista, when I try to install the Netgear drivers from the CD I get the message "You must install Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP before continuing"! So how do you get past this hurdle? Do I ignore the CD and just plug in the wireless adapter and let Vista do the rest, then go to the device manager and update the driver per your suggestion?

Hi, I bunged the Vista DVD in (home Premium) ran the upgrade on the XP Pro Box and chose to wipe C. As for the LAN I dont recall if it was in at the time I believe it probably was. I dont recall getting the message you have but then again I believe I took the latest download from Netgear and did not use my CD. (after all the Upgrade advisor said I needed the latest driver from Netgear) There was no warning that I recall of (as you would normally expect when not finding the right OS). I do recall trying the BETA drivers for the WLAN adaptor from Netgear for the WG111v2 but they did NOT help me one little bit. But do take the latest XP drivers from Netgear. Let us now how you get on. Good luck Eddie

I have recently purchased Dell computer with Windows Vista Home Premium. Accessing website with Netgear WG111V2 is very very slow and it is at crawling speed. The other computer with Windows XP Professional works fine and fast. I have requested 4 times for new drivers butall my requests have been ignored. I have 4 Netgear cases numbers and all I get from them is usual acknowledgment.

Yo Eddie27 Have you tried control panel - system - hardware - device manager then locate and right click on the adaptor and select update driver? Customer help from BOTH Dell and Netgear has been an absolute big fat ZERO (and not just on this issue - they are useless) Le me know how you get on. More than this I cant really help with but feedback as to wether this helps or doesnt help might get someone else to help you in the worse case. On a personal note I've abandoned Vista because it was on a Dell Dimension 8100 with only 728 MB or RAM. I tried to get more RAM but its this silly RDRAM. My other machine (1 year old) could hack Vista but having seen it take 600+ MB of physical memory just sitting there and doing nothing I thought better of it. Good luck

I have tried as mentioned by you, but no success. Message says no new drivers found. Service by Netgear is really aw--------------ful. Any how thanks for the suggestion.

Ok, I found a way to get the Netgear WG111v2 wireless adapter to work. (I don't know hwere to find this out other than the help topics, but) Go into help and search for 'Compatibility'. After that, there should be an option that says: 'What is program compatibility'. From there, push 'Find the Program Manually'. Next, click browse, go onto the disk and find the Autorun.exe Next, select Windows 2000, and go to the next screen. Here, click the checkbox for the 'administrations approval' or whatever that is. It should run it automatically, then follow the install like normal. That is how I got this to work on Windows Vista, 32 bit system. Leon.
