Net use error 5 on Windows 7 Pro
I have a Windows 7 Pro PC that is receiving a "System error 5 has occured - access is denied" when I use the net use command to map a drive to an AS/400. I can map the drive just fine with a Windows XP PC. It has to be a security setting on Windows 7 causing the issue but I can't figure out what the issue is. I am running the net use command from a command prompt with administrator rights on the Windows 7 Pro PC. Thanks for your help.Sierra Ridge Networks

We found the solution for this problem. Go to Start>Type gpedit.msc (it is located at C:\Windows\System32\gpedit.msc.) Press enter to open it. Click yes if UAC prompts you. Go to Local Computer Policy> Computer Configuration> Windows Settings> Security Settings> Local Policies> Security Options> Scroll down to "Network security: LAN Manager authentication level" Change it to: Send LM & NTLM, use NTLMv2 session security is negotiated The new security policy may not apply itself until reboot so restart to be sure.Sierra Ridge Networks
