Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service failed to start - Windows 7
Hi, Thanks for the response. At the first link the System Tip refers that the solution applies to a different version of OS as it was last reviewed in April 2004. The second link did not take me further. What is this Error meassage mean? I cannot see any dependencies on Net.Tcp. Should I start the service manually? Should I set it for delayed start? Please, help me how to fix. Thanks!

Hi, It took some time to look through the Eventviewer to find what might had caused the Net.Tcp error. As I wrote earlier it might had been something related to XBOX360 Media Center connection setup. The error started to show up those days when I paired two devices. I saw in the logs that the communication between PC and XBOX had had some difficulty then. I had the feeling that Net.Tcp service should be running. Unfortunately I did not get any feedback whether it should be running or not. I was planning to restart it, also to set it for delayed start. Before that I gave a chance to reconnect Windows Media Center PC with XBOX360 on the following way: 1. Start XBOX360 then 2. Start WMC PC It worked! Net.Tcp has been started automatically. I do not know exactly what happened, but it worked this way. I thing some threads had found each other in the right order. Otherwise, Net.Tcp service restart might help as well. I hope other fellows experiencing this problem find this post useful! Best regards, Chris

Hi, The issue about NetTcp Port sharing Service should related with .Net framework. You can try to repair .NET framework like below: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2009/03/04/9459067.aspx Or you can upgrade to .Net framework 4.0 for test: 1. Download .NET Framework 4.0 Standalone installer Note: You can try some download manager software to help downloading. 2. Use Cleanup tool to clear the failed installation of .NET Framework 4.0 3. Run the installer to install .NET 4.0 with Administrator Privilege Note: Right-click the installer >> "Run as Administrator" Hope that helps. Hi, Please, help me to discover my problem. I'm running W7 Enterprise 32 bit Recently I have to wait a lot for the password box after clicking on my user account icon. I've checked the Event viewer and saw the followings: Event 7000 and 7009 Event7000 The Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. - System - Provider [ Name] Service Control Manager [ Guid] {555908d1-a6d7-4695-8e1e-26931d2012f4} [ EventSourceName] Service Control Manager - EventID 7000 [ Qualifiers] 49152 Version 0 Level 2 Task 0 Opcode 0 Keywords 0x8080000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2012-01-20T02:45:51.979792100Z EventRecordID 32822 Correlation - Execution [ ProcessID] 536 [ ThreadID] 540 Channel System Computer Krisztian-PC Security - EventData param1 Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service param2 %%1053 Event7009 A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service to connect. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with Firewall rules that I've set recently manually because of XBOX360. I have details on those settings here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/w7itprosecurity/thread/7b7d6df8-8b10-4db7-bf58-b2c47be8b566 Please, help me to get over on it. I'm afraid that I need to reinstall the whole environment. Thank you!
