Need step by step to setup Windows 7 Internet Print Server
From what I read Internet Printing Protocol has been ripped out of Windows 7, and now LPR is the method to setup internet print server.
My need is simple, want to print to a shared printer over the internet using
http://xxx.xx.xxx.xx. I am unable to find any useful step by step instructions to set this up after hours of looking.
Any one know how to setup Windows 7 Pro, so as to print to its printer over the internet? What needs to install with LPR and what port needs to be forwared to local machine. Sketchy details on internet!

I use a server for shared resources on the LAN
As for an internet based printer to a service provider, contact them for problems.

I don't care if you can use a server to share resources on the lan.
I want to share my printer over the internet with Windows 7. XP had that feature, using IIS. I am the service provider.
Now go eat a carrot Vegan man MVP. read up a bit and see if you can help me :) I'm gonna go eat a ham samnitch and scratch my head some more. I want to do it without VPN, which would easy.

For security reasons that has been removed from 7
One idea is to use Virtual PC and run XP mode, free for Windows 7 Professional and higher

Thank you for your suggestion. Setup VirtualXP A lot of work for a seemingly simple request. I don't think it was because of security, as IPP is included with Windows 2008r2. I think they took it out to sell more servers.
I quit asking why, I know why $$$$$
New! IPP In XP

Too many people using it for free! Take it OUT.
... because Windows 7 is a client operating system.....yea, right

Hey, if they want it back, we can make them buy 2008 Server $$$$$$$$, (or a linux box)

In # 2 above, there are vague references to LPD print service, but can it be used over the internet? Since Linux is all TCP/IP based one would think it could be configured, but it would have to be a LPD printer???? LPD is new to me. No
easy way out of this mess.
