Need simple IPP printing for anyone on the Subnet.
I'm trying to install a printer over IPP but have some strict requirements. Printer server is set up on Server 2008 r2 which is on a domain. Printer drivers for x86 and x64 are installed. Printing from other computers on the domain is easy. Now the hard part. The printers with issues are in our Emergency Operations Center - only activated when an emergency arrizes and we have in 20 people from 10 different agencies; None of these people are in our domain. From what I have read, windows XP can install and print to an IPP printer without a problem, but both Vista and Win7 cannot due to changing security protocols. I've seen the answers before which state "Open devices and printers, add a printer, etc etc., enter administrator password". There is the problem; when an emergency arizes, there may not be an administrator present. We need ANYONE to be able to install the printer who is on the network (but not necessarily on the domain). We can't have any prompts for passwords, just click and go. We need to install from the print server because it holds the drivers, but we don't want any security restrictions other than "within our subnet". To dumb it down even farther, figure that the people who need to print - this is the first time they have ever seen a computer mouse and they are the only one in the room. - That is how simple this needs to be.
