Need help getting rid of Windows 7 RC
I installed Windows 7 RC and later decided to revert back to Vista. Now Im stuck with all these HUGE Windows 7 folders and files that I cannot delete. Ive tried using the command prompt method but that doesnt work. Ive also tried going into the file security settings and changing the owner of the files from "trusted installer" to Administrators and even that doesnt work. Help me out, how to get rid of these files?

Try booting into a Linux Live CD and deleting the files from there. Note that if Vista is giving you a hard time about deleting those files, it's probably because deleting them might make Vista unbootable. Hello! Run Disc Cleanup. There, you'll have the option to delete "previous versions of Windows."Full article:http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/delete-windows-old-removal.aspxHTH,Chris[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Mazzzz - It might help us if you told us exactly how you've got things installed on your system. You can't directly revert to a prior version of Windows. There's no "uninstall" for Windows 7. You need to install a fresh, clean copy of it by way of the DVD, or system restore disks or however you got Vista in the first place. Your best bet would be to back up your existing files, data and such to an external drive or media and then wipe the drive with the Vista install medium and then restore the data and other files after you finish reinstalling Vista.

Ive already got vista back up and running. I just need to delete the windows 7 folders. Going to try the dick clean up method mentioned above.

Judging by the modified dates, it looks like either you installed Vista a day before this pic was took, or Vista still uses these folders. I still don't know about taking them out... Although if you can, see if wiping out the partition and then clean-installing Vista helps.Hello! Please try every solution given to your problem...and reply back with its results... - JoelbX

Hello First backup necessary data especially Windows.old folder; then format the Windows 7 partition and reinstall Windows Vista. Thanks for your time and understanding! Good Luck! Andy

Before you wipe out vista, make sure you take owniship of the folders and contents from the advanced section of file secuity. Then select inheritable permisions to give permision to the current user which should be an adminitrator. You may also may have an easier time deleting these files in "safe mode".Also, rather than trying to delete the entire windows folder open it and delete or move some subfolders to the root of the partition.
