I have recently installed windows 7 rc 1. I had windows vista before. my isp provided me with an internet username/pass for my pppoe connexion. I wanted to setup my connexion on my windows 7 PC, but I keep getting error: ERROR 691 : Access denied because username and/or password combination you provided was not recognised or the authentification protocol is not permited on the server. I have a hunch that the latter is the problem: " authentification protocol is not permited on the server" but how should I change this to be like on my vista machine. I windows vista I just typed in the username pass broadband connexion name and it worked with the default values, what should I do on windows 7 to make it work. Please help B.Gabriel

I suggest that you delete the connection and recreate it again. Please create the connection in the wizard of the system, but not with any third party dial programs. If the issue persists, temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall. If the issue still occurs, I suspect that there are issues on the ISP server side.Arthur Xie - MSFT
