Need assitance with home network
A friend of mine came over and set up a home network for me, via Ethernet cords and a Ethernet hub. My desktop, a laptop and the HP printer were on the network. I was able to save or move files to the other pc and save them in the other "My Documents".
Recently I had to have the hard drive on the desktop wiped. I have just got around to trying to set up the network again. Last night I used the Network Wizard to try to do that. I used it on both the desktop and laptop.
It kinda works. On the desktop I am able to save, open or move files to the My Documents on the laptop.
On the laptop I am not able to save, open or move files to the My Documents on the desktop. It is not shown as an option on the laptop.
BTW, on the desktop, I have an external hard drive connected via USB. I was able to set it up so that the laptop sees it in the Network Places and is able to save, open and move things to it.
How can I get the laptop to open, save and move files to the My Documents on the desktop?
1 person needs an answerI do too

On the desktop have you shared the folders you want to see from the laptop? In My Computer, right-click the folders or drives you want to share and choose "Sharing".
Are all of the machines running Windows XP?-B-

Ben, yes both the desktop and the laptop are running Windows XP. I am pretty sure that I did the "sharing" thing for My documents on the desktop. But I am not sure, after I had the hard drive wiped and Windows XP was reinstalled, it was
a little different. In some places that folder is labeled "My Documents" and some places the folder is labeled "Dan's Documents". I was able to right click the "Dan's Documents" folder and do the "sharing" thing, but it does not show up on the laptop.
