I have an older Compaq, Presario 2500 laptop with a Pentium 4 processor. My operating system is Windows XP, SP 3. The newer antivirus software programs seem to crash my system, such as Mcafee, Avast, AVG, ect. I can't open my email or files. I assume the reason is the newer antivirus programs are much faster and complex than my older processor can handle. Is there a program out there that would run on my system without slowing me down or shutting me down?1 person needs an answerI do too

I run Microsoft Security Essentials on an XP machine. Sometimes, when the computer is first switched on there may be a delay (apparent freeze) whilst the definitions database is updated but normally it is less obtrusive than other AV programs. I now pre-empt the automatic updating by doing it when the computer is first switched on.Download it here http://www.microsoft.com/SECURITY_ESSENTIALS/ and install it.
