Need an innocuous service or executable.
We use Verdiem Surveyor for power management. When users are connected to our Citix SSL VPN, we want the computers to stay awake. Surveyor can watch for processes and suspend power managment operations while a that process is active, unfortunately there are no processes started with the VPN client becomes active. The VPN can run a command at logon and log off. I tested having it issue a NET START and STOP for the SmartCard service and it worked great... on computers that didn't have a smart card reader. :( Does anyone know of a program or service that can be started and stopped from a command line that uses as little CPU and memory as possible? I looked through the list of built in services and none of them seem to be appropriate on all machines. It could even be a little EXE that does nothing that we could start and stop with Taskkill. If not is there a method to create one? Thanks!

All the services that can be started with “net start” are listed. You have to choose one of them. You can try to use WPCSvc if you do not use Parental Controls. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
