Need a Program to Autostart on Vista Ultimate Reboot
We use a server service monitoring program (IPSentry) to periodically check a number of servers and notify us if any services have stopped. Previously with XP we were able to have this program automatically start as a service whenever the PC rebooted. However, with Vista Ultimate we cannot seem to get the same functionality. We have two problems: 1. The program won't start without a user logged in. 2. The program is blocked from running by the UAC We needsome help configuring or overriding Vista Ultimate so that this program automatically starts (or runs as a service) and can email alerts as necessary. Thanks

Hi, Before moving on, I would like to explain that Microsoft improved the security mechanism Windows Vista. UAC aims to improve the security of Microsoft Windows Vista by limiting application software to standard user privileges until an administrator authorizes an increase in privilege level. The software manufacturer should upgrade their produce to take Windows Vista UAC feature into consideration. If we modify any UAC setting for single program on Windows Vistas side, it may cause a potential security issue, which is not recommended. Given the situation, I highly recommend you contact IPSentry to address this issue. Thank you for your understanding. For your convenience: IPSentry Support http://www.ipsentry.com/content/support.htm Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. As a workaround, we can disable UAC, please understand that it is highly unrecommended due to security considerations. Hope it helps.

Upon reviewing our support history, we (IPSentry Support) have received information from an end user regarding this exact issue. They let us know that the problemwas a GPO policy that was preventing the account under which IPSentry was configured to run from logging on as service. The account under which the IPSentry Service Manager service (SRVIPSEN) must have Logon as Service Rights granted. If you have any additional issues regarding the IPSentry software, please do not hesitate to contact our support staff directly at support@ipsentry.com or through our support forums at http://forum.ipsentry.com.
