Need Help With WebDav Issue
Hello, I am a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit user. Anywho.. I am having trouble using WebDav. I can sign in to the remote server ok.. but when I attempt to copy files from my computer the web folder foruploading, I am getting the following error message, even AFTER disabling my firewall and virus scan!! A dialogue box labeled "Copy File" comes up... and it says... "An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem." Error: 0x80070057: The Parmeter is incorrect. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?? Thanks much, Christy

Hi Christy, Does the issue occur while copying locally? The error 0x80070057 may occur if a Junction Point (JP) is included in the file-specs reported by the System-Writer. User had created a JP on one volume pointing to another volume. System-State Backup will fail for such a JP. This, however, is not supported, wherein a JP pointing to another volume/drive is included in the writer reported specs. Any such path reported by the writer is considered invalid. It is not easy to find out which junction point path is failing exactly as the application fails to report the path. Most probably it is a path installed in the root path of the volume, but in theory, it can lie anywhere in the system. User can get the output of vshadow –wm2 and validate all the paths being reported to see if any of them is a junction point. Best Regards Dale

Hi Dale, Thanks for your reply. I am a bit of computer neophyte so bear with me if my knowledge level is low. Anyway... I am not sure what you mean by copying locally. I am a home user that is attempting to connect my personal computer to a server that is located somewhere on the internet. This is not the server of my ISP... or a server within my own personal network... it is a server located outside beyond that. Basically, I am using WebDav to send a large number of .jpg files to a website for photographers. Anywho.. Using Web Dav... my PC can connect to the photo website's server OK... however when I attempt to copy files (e.g. jpgs) which are located on my PC's hard drive and copy them to the folder that webdav creates... which I am assuming is a folder that is mutally shared by my computer and the photo website's server... I am getting the error 0x80070057 message. What's weird is that some of my files get sucessfully loaded onto the server anyway, even though that error message pops up. So do you think it may an issue with the website's server?

I am using WebFolders on Windows 7 Enterprise to connect to a WebDAV server (all calls to WebDAV server work fine with Windows XP). When I try to drag and drop files / folders from local file system onto WebDAV location, 0x80070057 errorpop-up is displayed and file / folder creation fails. Are there any known workarounds for the same? WebDAV server logs indicate that appropriate commands namely Put and PropPatch are issued to it as expected but still the file creation doesn't happen.

Dale, do a quick search for WebDAV and Windows 7. You'll find all sorts of people have found this bug for MS and nobody on the MS side has picked up the ball to fix it. 1.5 years after this bug was identified, and it still goes unaddressed. How did this get fixed in Vista and the fix dropped in Windows 7? Here is the MS fix for Vista: KB907306 Could someone please tell us when you expect this bug to get fixed?
