Need Help Upgrading from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Enterprise
Hey, I recently got a hold of Windows 7 Enterprise for my laptop that currently has Vista Home Premium, and want to install Windows 7 on it. Since I can't do the upgrade, what kinds of files should I back up that i would most likely need to be able to use my computer after the Custom installation?

You will not be able to upgrade from Vista HP to Win 7 Enterprise because it is a Volume License product and requires a clean install. Also, keep in mind it is a Time Limited edition and cannot be "upgraded" to a non-Time Limited version which means you will have to completely wipe out installation and do a completely full, clean install again. All your programs will need to be re-installed. You can save your personal files and data with Windows Easy Transfer which you can download from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/windows-easy-transfer Make sure you have ALL Windows 7 compatible drivers and utility software for you system BEFORE you embark on this endeavor if you want FULL functionality afterward!

I know that i cannot upgrade it, and have to do a clean install. I just need to know if there are any certain files that if i do not have after its installed will basically make me unable to use my laptop.

As stated above "Make sure you have ALL Windows 7 compatible drivers and utility software for you system BEFORE you embark on this endeavor if you want FULL functionality afterward!" The drivers and utilities are hardware specific from the respective manufacturer/vendor of your laptop. If you don't acquire them before you start you will not have full fuunctionality of your laptop like the Fn keys. You need to go to the Support website of the manufacturer/vendor of your laptop an see if they have all the Windows 7 drivers and sofware utilities. If they are not ther, then you will need to find them somewhere via the internet because Microsoft does not publish drivers nor utilites software for any third party hardware. Bobby told you everything you need to know. You will not find the drivers and utility software anywhere on the Microsoft website - you must go to the manufacturer/vendor Support website!
