Need Help
Here's my deal. My son installed Windows 7 based on a recommendation from his HS computer teacher. No backup. No hard drive partition- so no clean install. My computer skills are moderate at best. I'm not too into this OS, so I'd like to get Vista back (crazy, I know, but true). As thisas simple as reinstalling theVista OS, or am I going to up a creek went I try to convert back. Any help is appreciated!

Assuming you have the original Vista install DVD, boot from the install DVD and select the option to Repair the OS. If that does not work, backup any important files to a USB drive or to a CD then re-install Vista from scratch.

Once you have Windows 7, there is no going back. You will have to install Vista from your original OEM disk, download and apply any applicable Vista updates and patches, and reinstall all of your applications with updates and patches. I would hope that the computer teacher had imparted the normal caveats about doing a backup and not using the primary computer for beta testing.

Best to make a restore disk in the future to avoid the problem your having.
