Native Windows 7 Backup not backing up ALL of the user's profile
Is Microsoft aware that the pre-installed Windows7 backup DOES NOT backup everything in the user's profile. Specifically, some applications add a folder prefixed with a "." in the c:\users\{username} directory. Some of these applications are Gimp, Virtualbox, NMap, and even Microsoft's .thumbnail directory. These files will be backed up in a system image, but when a user selects "backup data for newly created users" or a User's libraries & additional locations"; these files/directories with a "." never appear and aren't backed up. This can be misleading as it appears that the user has backed up ALL of their profile information; when indeed they have not. I suppose you could say that applications shouldn't use a "." in their file/directory names; but it is pretty commonplace and even microsoft names the thumbnails directory prefixed with a "." Any thoughts? Thank you!
