You can get bcupdate by Googling for it, but you don't need it to fix the "NTLDR is missing error". Set the BIOS to boot from the CD first. When you first start the computer you will see a message that says something like "Press F2 to enter Setup". Many computers also will say something like "Press F12 for a temporary boot menu". If you have that option, take it. Insert your XP installation CD and, instead of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. Assume any password requested is blank or, if you assigned a password to the built-in Administrator, enter that. Assuming your optical drive is D:\, type: COPY D:\i386\ntldr C:\ [enter] COPY D:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\ [enter] [a file that may also be missing] then rebuild the boot configuration boot.ini file by typing: Attrib -H -R -S C:\boot.ini [enter] [if not found skip the next line] DEL C:\boot.ini [enter] BootCfg /Rebuild [enter] MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
