HiYou have to explain how it is connected and configured to work with the Internet, and what the network specific topology is.Otherwise, we have No clue about what the problem might be. Jack - Microsoft MVP, Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET

There are serveral XP workstations connected to a Cable modem/router. the server is connected to the same router. I am able to remote into the workstation but cannot get out to the internet from that workstation. All other stations and server connect to the Internet.I ran Malware bytes on the work station and got rid of alot of malware instances. I think that the malware may have corrupted the network configuration on perhaps a registry entry. I cannot ping out to the internet from a dos prompt. I would like to avoid an on site visit and an inplace upgrade. Is there a checklist of registry and network settings that I could comb thru? Thanks,Bruce

What do you mean by "cannot ping the internet"? What are you trying to ping? Are you pingingwww.google.com? or are you attempting to ping and IP address? Sounds to me like a DNS problem. Run an ipconfig /all and post the results.

Can't ping www.yahoo.com or by pinging www.69.147.125.65.Not a DNS issue, more like when a firewall block.

Try pinging 69.147.125.65...remove the www. Also, try nslookup www.yahoo.com. This will at least eliminate the DNS issue. It would still help to see the results of ipconfig /all.Did you set-up a special rule in the Firewall to block the ip of this workstation? Just to be clear, you can ping the other local workstations? Try a tracert to 69.147.125.65...it can show you if a firewall is blocking it.
