NFS connection error
Trying to connect to NFS resource. Windows XP works fine, Windows 7 fails to connect to a share... if we enter \\server it will prompt for user and then bring up the shares... however when we click on a share it fails with an error, "not accessible, you might not have permissions to use this network resource". However with Windows XP it works fine with the same user credentials.

Use network monitor (either MS or free Wireshark) to resolve what is happening. Also look into Event logs if there is any trace. You can hardly compare Windows XP and Windows 7. There are more security restrictions in Windows 7. That is why you can temporarily disable firewaal to lower number of possible factors. Hi, Windows 7 uses 128-bit encryption to help protect file sharing connection. Some devices don't support 128-bit encryption and must use 40- or 50-bit encryption. Go Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings, find File sharing connections, select "Enable file sharing for device that use 40- or 50-bit encryption" for a test. Meanwhile, please verify "client for Microsoft networks" is installed in the network adapter. http://blogs.technet.com/b/danstolts/archive/2011/06/21/resolving-network-issues-you-might-not-have-permission-to-use-this-network-resource.aspxNiki Han TechNet Community Support

Thanks for the advise. I did lower the encryption to 40 and it still failed. Client for Microsoft networks is enabled. I've looked at the link you provided and the interesting thing is if I type \\server it prompts for username/password. I type in the credentials and it then brings up all the shares. When I click on one of the shares is when it fails with the error. And like I mentioned previously, with Windows XP it works.

We are running Windows Professional... and I know I've read on here that 7 and NFS is only supported with higher versions of 7... However I know I've seen it work with Pro as well. Which leads me to believe that we should be able to get it to work.
