NEW COMPUTER USING WINDOWS 7 WILL NOT WAKE UP FROM SLEEP MODE.  I HAVE TO MANUALLY TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON.
New laptop with Windows 7 does not wake up from SLEEP MODE. I have moved the computer, moved the cursor, pushed every key on the keyboard, moved the space bar but nothing wakes it up. I always have to manually turn the computer off and then turn it on again. I have searched the FORUM but don't see anyone having my problem. I have searched under SLEEP MODE in GETTING STARTED WITH WINDOWS 7 but I don't find where they address the different modes. Any suggestions?

Go into your computer BIOS, under Power, and look for the Stand By Mode settings. Make sure it's set to "S3". If not, change it to S3. Mine was in AUTO, and I was having the same problem as you. The way it works is this: Put the computer to sleep, the power button blinks every few seconds. All fans are off, system wakes quickly. If you enable the computer to "Deep Sleep" or "Hibernate" after "x" amount of minutes/hours, Windows will save to disk the information that you are working with. The system looks powered off, no lights, no fans, nothing seems on. Press the "ESC" key on keyboard (power button works too), and the computer seems to be powering up, only that it's resuming from Hibernate - or "Deep Sleep." Here is a link with more info. http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/post/85816.aspx In short: Select the S3 Stand-By Setting!
