NAS Not Shown in Network
Running Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit on my laptop and 64-bit on my desktop), ESET Smart Security v4.0.474.0 on both, and a Thecus N5200 Pro NAS.In Windows Explorer the Thecus NAS is never shown in the Network unless I type into the address bar: '\\ThecusN5200' Once I've done this it is shown until I close Windows Explorer and I then have to repeat this every time I want to access the NAS. I have mapped one of the folders as a network drive and this is always visibile and accessible under 'Computer.'I have read so many threads on similar issues that give solutions such as: enable NTLMv1, look at your firewall, ensure network discovery is on etc etc. None work! Given that I can see the NAS once I type '\\ThecusN5200' into the address bar I'm none the wiser as to why it isn't shown by default.Any suggestions gratefully received.RegardsSkeir641

Have you tried to manually connecting the network drive and then checking the "reconnect at logon box?"David Dracoules

Have you tried to manually connecting the network drive and then checking the "reconnect at logon box?" David Dracoules Hi David,What do you mean by 'manually' connecting? If you mean by typing '\\ThecusN5200' - then what? What 'reconnect at logon box?'Just to emphasise:- On initial opening Windows Explorer does not show my NAS under 'Network'- On initial opening the folder on the NAS that I have mapped as a network drive is visible and accessible under 'Computer' in Windows Explorer- Once I type '\\Thecus5200' the NAS shows up under 'Network' but NOT in the right hand side of the Windows Explorer window- Once I close Windows Explorer I have to repeat the above step to once again show the NAS.REgardsSkier641

Does the issue occur on other computer in the network? If the issue only occurs in Windows 7, please let us know how you enabled the NTLMv1 authentication. Also please let us know if the computer is in domain or workgroup.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hi Arthur Xie,It happens on my desktop and laptop - both running Windows 7 (desktop 64-bit, laptop 32-bit). I have no other computers in my network though my Logitech Squeezebox Duet and Logitech Squueezebox radio have no problem in connecting to the NAS via Squeezebox server.I enabled NTLMv1 by selecting 'Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated' from within the Local Security Policy. The computers are in a workgroup.Regards and thanksSkier641
