NAS Drops connection

I have been receiving errors when trying to open my NAS after not using it for a while after logging on to Windows 8.1. I am using a WD MyCloud with firmware v04.01.03-421. I can access the MyCloud from other devices including an iPad, iPhone, and Windows 7 Ultimate PC with no problems. If I log out of Windows 8.1 and log back in I can access the drive again. I receive the following error when trying to access the folder through mapped drive or through the "network" option:

Windows cannot access \\NASFILENAME

Check the speling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose

Error Code 0x80070035

The network path was not found.

The file name is correct and this is only a problem on my Windows 8.1 PC.

Hi Roger8419,

Thank you for posting this issue on the TechNet community forums.

From the description I understand that you're having problems with your WD MyCloud device dropping connection when not in use. You also mentioned that you are connecting to this device over a network. Can you please confirm if you're using a wired or a wireless connection?

You could try assigning a static IP address to your device.

Hi Roger,

"I have been receiving errors when trying to open my NAS after not using it for a while after logging on to Windows 8.1"
Do you mean it can be accessed before ?

Please try to following command line to disable the autodisconnect feature to have a check.
"net config server /autodisconnect:-1"
Here is a link for reference :
Mapped Drive Connection to Network Share May Be Lost
http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/297684

We also need to change the power option of the network adapter.
Open Device Manager to change the power management settings for a network adapter. To disable this setting in Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right-click the adapter, click Properties, click the Power Management tab, and then clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.

If there is any antivirus software installed ,please turn them off temporarily to have a check .
Please also check the status of these services "Workstation, DHCP Client, DNS Client, Server, TCP/IP Netbios helper, Computer Browser".

Best regards
