NAP Queries
I need to know a few things about NAP as quickly as possible.I understand the concept of NAP where we monitor the "health" of computers on the same network and can control if they can access the network or whatever... for security reasons. This is all fine. What I want to know is, what is required to setup NAP? In addition to that, is there an extensions thing where I can develop a solution for NAP? like a NAP SDK or something of that nature? If so - where would I go for this? And has anyone developed something for NAP? How did you go about doing this? Thanks!Need 2 be back @ MS - MS All the way! Follower since 1995 MS Super Evangelist| MSDN Forums Moderator

The requirements for NAP depend on what you are trying to enforce. The least thing you need isa Windows Server 2008 Policy Server and a NAP compliant client. I did a pilot project where I tested 802.1x enforcement, DHCP enforcement and TS Gateway enforcement. I also tested a product called the NAP Universal Health Agent by Avendasys. That product proves that NAP is extensible, but I have no idea how they did it. I'm not that deep into MSDN.I hope this information helps you a little bit further. If you need more information I can reccomment the Windows Server 2008 Resource Kit. There is some really good information about NAP inthere.Ray

Thanks Ray, much appreciated.I did check out the Windows SDK resource kit, it did have some NAP stuff in it but unfortunately in C++ (im a .NET) and can understand whats going on but it wasnt really a "solution" or an example of any kind. no idea what it was I saw to be honest.so from your test/research, NAP is extensible... now to find how you can extend it.....http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa369712(VS.85).aspxseems to point to it but sadly there isnt a full/proper example of a simple validation and how I can maybe port that over to .NET and maybe interop it to NAP since I am not a C++ developer.
