NAL (Network Location Awareness) Service keeps disabling itself on Win7
Hi all, I have created a universal Windows 7 Pro 64-bit image. There are zero issues when using this image apart from one. When I add it to the domain, it seems to set the NLA service (Network Location Awareness) to Disabled when it was originally set to automatic. Now, I can set it back to Automatic, but it's a real pain and I have been searching far and wide for a fix. Also, it doesn NOT happen every time, it seems random whether the problem occurs on an imaged PC or not. Does anyone know why this would happen? From what I can tell, it isnt part of the group policy, as non-imaged win 7 pro 64-bit PCs do not have this issue (nor do some imaged pcs for that matter). Symantec Endpoint Protection is installed but I dont think that has anything to do with it. Is there some way I can prevent this from happening? I'd be grateful for any help anyone might offer. Thanks, Seanboy

Hi, have you tried temporarily disable Symantec Endpoint Protection to check the result? You can also perform a Clean Boot on a imaged PC: 1. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility. Note: Please click Continue if the "User Account Control" window pops up. 2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". 4. Restart the computer and test the issue. Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click "OK". Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment. Also, if you narrow down that the issue is caused by the image, you can also post the issue to our deployment forum via: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/threads Hope this helps! Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
