My usb universal host controllers and attached wifi are not enabled each time my laptop starts up.
I have upgraded my acer aspire 6935 to windows 7 and everything was working fine however one day the wifi stopped working which I have realised is due to the usb controllers and wifi module having a troubleshooting status icon. I have run the troubleshooting wizard or disabled / renabled each device which gets them to work but they will return back to their troubled state upon the next boot. In addition to Andre's suggestion, be sure to disable the power saving features to the usb ports and nic's.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. I suggest updating BIOS and the device drivers from Acer site. Please choose the Windows 7 system on the Acer page. If any WIFI switch is available on your computer, please make sure it is turned on. Vivian Xing - MSFT

Hi thanks for your replies. The devices already have the power saving features disabled. The devices start up with troubleshooting needed. I don't think this will be an issue with the wifi drivers as it knocks out the internal USB hubs, ethernet and bluetooth

Hi, Did you update the BIOS? I suggest unplug unused device and try again. If the issue persists, you can try the following steps: Reinstall USB controllers ----------------------------- Use the Mouse ================ First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps: 1. Click "Start" button, type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotation marks) in the “Search” bar and press "Enter". Click “Continue” if necessary. 2. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK". 3. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. Use the Keyboard ================ First, please disconnect all USB devices. Then, go through the following steps: 1. Press "Ctrl + Esc" to open the “Start” menu. 2. Type “devmgmt.msc” in the Search bar and press "Enter". Click “Continue” if necessary. 3. In Device Manger, press Tab and use "Up" and "Down" to move the highlight to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". 4. Press "Right" and expand it. 5. Press "Down" to move to the first item and press "Delete" to remove it. 6. Repeat the step 5 and uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all controllers automatically. You can also test it in Clean Boot mode.Vivian Xing - MSFT
