My system not responding
I jusr bought my laptop about a week ago, it runs on windows 7, 320GB HDD, 3gb memory and intel® Pentium® Processor T4400- 2.2 GHz- 800 MHz FSB- 1 MB L2 cache It is the ASUS X5DIJ series and I have read glowing reviews about it online. When I first started using it, there was nothing wrong with it but once I started installing several programs such as AVG anti-virus, messenger, skype, etc, and even though there is still sufficient memory space, sometimes the computer just freezes when I want to switch from google chrome to wondows media player for example and there was this one time when the whole system just hangs when I try to play music. Also, it takes AGES, like literally, to start the task manager after I press clt+alt+delete but most of the time this does not even work and the whole system just freezes and eventually I have to reboot the whole thing by pressing the on/off button. I'm wondering what could possibly be the problem here because it's a completely new laptop and I have not even used much of it yet except to browse internet, write essays on microsoft document and chat on skype/msn. Can someone please help me and suggest a solution to the problems mentioned above. Thank you.

If you suspect it could be AVGH, try using Windows Live Essentials antivirus instead, it's much more system friendly. Also, check your power settings: the power saver mode will actually force your processor to run at half-speed, slowing everything down and bottle-necking you. Hi,I noticed AVG anti-virus, messenger, skype are all require internet connected. Will other application like Windows games trigger the issue? You can test the issue this way.First, boot into Safe mode with networking. This way will help us clarify if the issue was caused by software or hardware.==========================1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when you see the boot menu. 2. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode with networking, and then press Enter. 3. Log onto Windows by using the Administrator account or any user account with the Administrator privileges. NOTE: In Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary. To return the system back to Normal Mode, we can simply restart the computer. If persists in Safe mode, we need to focus on the hardware side or even virus. Run your anitivirus software in safe mode to clean the system. Or perform a free online scan, visit http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm to make sure the system is clean. If the issue disappear in Safe mode, proceed with the clean boot steps to clarity if it is third party software or windows services that cause the issue.Clean boot, refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135===============1. Click the Start Button and type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search Box and press Enter.2. Click Continue to verify the permission.3. Select the Services tab in the open window. Check the “Hide all Microsoft Services” option and click Disable All.4. Switch to the Startup tab and click Disable All.5. Click OK to save the settings and select Restart when prompted.6. Check whether or not the issue still occurs. Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't adversely affect the system or other programs. We can still manually run these programs later.
