i think i have the jist of what what you want done because its not usually advised to remove files that are being used. It causes errors.anyhow.step 1, reboot the computer and log back in open my doc's, click tools, folder options, view and make sure "show hidden files and folders" is marked. close all open boxes.right click the start button, left click explorer and look for a folder called local settings.open local settingsopen tempclick edit, select allclick file, deleteThis will remove all of the junk temporary files that clog stuff.step 2,Open a web browser and google - ATF Cleaner, download and install.open ATF cleaner and check "select all" - i go back and uncheck "history"click empty selected.the program might take a while to run but this will clean out more junk temporary files. reboot the computer and when it comes back up log back in.step 3,open a web browser and google "malwarebytes"download and install the program, run the update from the update tab and then complete a quick scan.remove any entries that this program finds and reboot.final thoughts, aside from upgrading ram, processors, mobo's and such the only other thing to do is to enter the msconfig and modify the boot.ini file and change what services and programs run at startup. Depening on your skill level you might want to try that or find a techie friend to mess with that. If you do change those setting your computer might not run right so be careful if you go there.GL
