My new Win 7 laptop cannot connect to external NAS via my home wireless network, but my old Win XP laptop access it pefectly. My wife has a laptop with Vista and cannot access it either. The NAS works ok because my old laptop with XP and another Win XP PC I have connected to the wireless network operate perfectly with the external drive. With the Win 7 laptop was unable to map the NAS. The system says that "cannot connect" Any clues/ guide of how to fix this issue? Thanks a lot!

Some Linux based NAS boxes run an older less secure protocolYou can dumb down windows..For pro or aboveclick the start button and type secpol.msc in the search function. Browse to "Local Policies" -> "Security Options". Now look for the entry "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level" and open it. Click on the dropdown menu and select "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". Apply the settings. For Home versionsclick the start button and type secpol.msc in the search function. Browse to "Local Policies" -> "Security Options". Now look for the entry "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level" and open it. Click on the dropdown menu and select "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". Apply the settings. In the Advanced sharing settings page of Network and sharing center, you need to have it set as Work/Home profile. Try Make sure computers are the same workgroup for now (you can change it later)Enable network discoveryTurn on file and print sharingTurn off password protected sharingTurn on Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers1.
