My microsoft backup and restore reports some file not backed up because of corrupted C:
C is not really corrupted as everything appears fine. I tried to do a solution which said to :start run cmd fsutil dirty query c But I could not it says I do not have administrator privileges. But my user says Administrator password protected. I tried chkdsk but I was told I need to run in elevated mode. I am the only one using my computer but I am new to 7. I started with DOS !.

Patricci63, You are bumping agianst the UAC feature. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control Try to follow the following tutorial on how to open an elevated prompt. http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/158/1/How-to-open-an-elevated-Command-Prompt-in-Windows-Vista.html And in this command prompt type the following actions (asuming that you are backing up disk C:) . CHKDSK C: /F /R CHKDSK will ask you if you want to perform the check disk when the computer restarts. So hit Y. After this reboot your machine. And try to backup your disk agian. Give us some feedback if this works for you Kind Regards DFT IM me - TWiTTer: @DFTER

Hi, Daft’s suggestions are worth to perform. If the issue persists, I suggest you run System File Checker (SFC) to verify whether any system file is corrupted. Thanks, Novak

I apologize for posting the same question. I was away fom my computer and did not receive notice of answers. I am new to windows 7. Skipped Vista. Started with DOS 1. I tried to follow the suggestions in the article but "run as administrator" was not recognized. Did stuff change from Vista? Chkdsk finds nothing wrong. It runs on startup. chkdsk /f /r says I do not have sufficient privileges. scannow says I have to be administrator running console privileges whatever that means.

Hi, This issue can occur if the user does not have enough privilege or the user profile is corrupted. At this stage, I suggest you refer to the following article to create a new admin profile and perform above suggestions again. Create a user account If the issue persists, please perform above suggestions in System Recovery Options. Thanks, Novak
