My laptop is using Windows 8.1 and it can't connect to a WiFi using WPA2/Enterprise authenticate

I am using a laptop Dell Inspiron 15z with Windows 8.1 64 Bit OS.  And i build a test lab to test WPA2/Enterprise authenticate.

My Lab is like that:

1/ My DC + DNS using Windows 2012 RC2 Standard.

2/ I install CA + Radius Server on DC Server.

3/ My AP WiFi is DrayTek AP810

After configed i can you use my iphone 5s (ios 8.1), my android phone (Samsung Galaxy), 1 laptop Windows 7, 1 laptop Windows 8 to test. And all of them can connected with no problem.

But my laptop using Windows 8.1 64 bit OS can't connected. After i choise the WiFi, it only show "checking network requirement"- not show the option question username and password. (and i config it exactly like laptop Windows 8).

I have tried find the answer on Google but nothing help me. (i have choise PEAP, install Certificate...)

Please help me guys. Thank you so much.

Hi,

About this issue, we could troubleshoot as the following methods on the Windows 8.1 client side.

1. Maker sure the "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password" setting on the client is disabled and on your client and type in the correct domain name when prompted.

2. If the issuer persists, delete this network profile in your Windows 8.1 client with commands and manually configure it as this similar thread.

thank you for reply.

I have disable "automatically use my Windows logon name and password". And all my laptop aren't join domain. But i still can't connect to my WiFi - it still not show up the windows ask for username and password.

I have tried use netsh command to delete my Wifi profile but still no effected.

I wonder why i config my laptop using Windows 8.1 exactly like Windows 8, but why my laptop using Windows 8 can connected but Windows 8.1 cannot!?

I will tried uninstall Windows 8.1 and reinstall Windows 8 on the Laptop.

Hi,

Since you have not store the credential for this network profile and it doesn't ask user name and password. Did you it stuck at "checking network requirements"?

Let's try to install latest wireless NIC driver applied to Windows 8.1. If no latest wireless NIC driver available or you already have the latest driver, try to remove and re-install the wireless NIC to reset wireless profile.

So sorry because not continues this problem for so long.

I have a new project and dont have time to do this for a while.

Today i test this again. The test lab is like in the first post. Now i have use 1 more USB Wireless card and an other laptop with new Windows 8.1 (no antivirus, no firewall). And the result is:

1/ iphone 5s and android smart phone samsung 4s: work with no problem.

2/ window xp: work with no problem.

3/ windows 7: work with no problem.

4/ windows 8: work with no problem.

5/ windows 8.1 (my laptop and wireless onboard): dont work, no popup for username and password show.

6/ windows 8.1 (my laptop, disable wireless onboard, using new USB Wireless card): dont work, no popup for username and password show.

7/ windows xp (disable onboard card, and use the USB Wireless card): work with no problem.

8/ new laptop with a new install windows 8.1 (no antivirus, disable firewall): dont work, no popup for username and password show.

This time i use the same config on windows 8 and windows 8.1 like this guide http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/9483-connect-to-a-802-1x-peap-authenticated-network-from-a-personal-non-domain-member-windows-7-8.

And i tried the install the CA cert of radius server on Windows 8.1 too. If you can, i need a video/text guide  of success config on Windows 8.1 (and the info of model WiFi, Radius Server they use). Thank you so much for your help.

Thank God, I have found the answer.

My test laptops have windows 8.1 is the standard version, when windows 8 is the enterprise version.

I have install a trial version of windows 8.1 pro and it work now.

I will close this thread and continues in new thread at here
