My laptop is infected.
My laptop is infected and I am unable to get on line, run a scan, etc. My husband downloaded a program on a flashdrive and uploaded it onto my laptop but, the virus would not allow it to run. Any suggestions short of calling in a professional? I have alot of memories stored on this computer that I would hate to lose.2 people need an answerI do too

Hi Dehlila, what is the name of the virus on your pc? What exactly is happening? Since you can't access the internet, please go to Start on your desktop, click Run,type mrt.exe click ok. M/softs Malicious Software Removal Tool will appear, run a full system scan. You will get a list at the end of the scan of anything found and the tool will remove them for you. After the scan, please come back and let me know what was found, including the info i asked for. Also please list what security programs you have on your pc. will await your reply.

Dehlila, have your husband use the clean computer to rename the program on the flashdrive to dehlila.exe before he transfers it to the infected machine. Then run it. See if that works, and don't forget to return with the info that mysoul requested. The more information that is provided the better because certain infections require specific tools. _____________________________________________________ Microsoft MVP - Consumer Security Member of Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals SpywareHammer
