My external drive's not working properly
Hi. recently while copying files from my internal hard disk to my external hard disk, my system froze. i had to do a cold reboot. but after that when i tried accessing my external HDD it shows it as local disk j: having 0 capacity and 0mb used. there are no files displayed even though i have over 230gb of data on it. i have tried all troubleshooting methods available on windows help. even unplugged it and connected after sometime to see if it would work. no such luck. i even tried it on my laptop computer and it doesn't work there either. system restore has been disabled for that drive somehow, so system restore doesn't work either. i have important files on it and can't afford to format it. the drive is a transcend 320gb external hdd. i am running windows xp pro sp3, with 160gb internal hdd and 3gb ddr2 ram. please help me recover the data somehow if possible. thank you.
