I have a computer in my room that is very noisy, so every night when I go to bedI turn it off. 5 minutes later it turns on again and eventually I have to unplug it. This never happened when I was running Windows Vista. What can I do to fix this? BTW my computer is a Compaq Presario SR2170NX with 2 GB of RAM.

Check your BIOS settings for power loss restart or something.Are the power settingsset toS1 or S3?Also go to Device Manager and uncheck the option to "allow this device to wake the computer" on all devices that can do that, for example, mouse, or network cards.
