My computer sometimes takes a long time to wake up from sleep/standby. Anyone knows whats doing it?
The last few months its been taking longer and longer (up to a minute) to wake up. It was only taking a few seconds to wake up. I know its a hardware issue because I did a clean install of Windows XP and it is still doing it. A few weeks later I did a clean install of Windows 7 beta on a second partition and it is still doing it. My computer is working fine except for the slow waking up.

HiMaybe you put it in hibernation instead of sleep, and this is why it loads slow.On W7 set hybrid sleep to OFF from advanced power optionsControl Panel\System and Security\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings then click change advanced power settings and turn off hybrid sleeporcompletely disable hibernation by running powercfg -h off from command promptOn XP open power management options via control panel and disable hibernation

Ventsislav Alexandriyski said:"why then you must wait 1 minute? What you wait for?"If I knew that, I wouldn't be asking why its taking so long:-P Check event viewer to find why it takes so long.In Event Viewer (Local) I have the following errors in the last hour:Event Type: Error, Event ID: 1001, Source: DHCPv6-Client.I have 29 under Event Type: Information. Do you wont a list of them?I also have 4 Audit Failure. Event ID: 5032, Source: Microsoft Windows security auditing.

The power LED stops blinking and I hear the fans/HDD come on. Then up to a minute later the screen comes on(Yes the screen works fine). The first time I waked up the computer today it took almost a minute to wake up. The next time about 5 seconds. And this time about a half a minute to wake up.

Check HDD for bad sectors and make sure S.M.A.R.T. is ok

I went to www.hddstatus.com and here is the S.M.A.R.T. information: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jerryc98/3301421448/in/photostream/ It looks like that my HDD is starting to have start up issues:( Is this why it sometimes takes a wile to come out of sleep?

I think SMART values are OK, but better check if with Data Lifeguard Tools from WD. Go here http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?fid=wdfDesktop_CaviarBlue_EIDE2&wdc_lang=enand download Data Lifeguard Tools , then check your HDD for errors. Errors codes check here: http://support.wdc.com/techinfo/general/errorcodes.aspIf no errors are found, go in BIOS and disbaleSMART if it is enabled. Then check how it is working

The strange thing is I installed SpeedFan to get the S.M.A.R.T. information and my computer have been waking up fine the last 4 times I woke it up. Did SpeedFan fix my HDD? I did install Data Lifeguard and no errors. I am making it MUCH higher on my list to upgrade/replace my HDD.
