My computer is stuck in a stubborn safe mode!
I have windows vista and I just got my computer a little over a week ago. My roommate had some friends over and one kid got on without my permission and started downloading programs and stuff thinking I wouldn't mind. He didn't turn off the computer or anything so when I got home I restarted the computer for my Nortan Anti-virus updates. When it loaded back up it was in safe mode. I've tried system restore, f8, going to msconfig and the normal mode box is already selected. In alerts and notices the top most error is WMI. I've been told its my OS and I've been told its a virus. I need some serious help please!

Hi, Since this issue occurred after updating Norton Anti-virus, the main reason may be related to Norton. Do you receive any caution from the Norton antivirus software? If so , I would like to provide the following suggestions to narrow down the issue. 1. Boot in Safe Mode with Networking, and perform a full scan. You can try some free online scan tools, such as Kaspersky. 2. Run commands chkdsk /f and sfc /scannow to check file corruption. 1) Open a command prompt by running as a Administrator. 2) Run chkdsk /f command, then press Y when you are prompted with message. 3) Restart the computer, and open the command prompt to run sfc /scannow. 3. Uninstall and reinstall Norton for updated version. 1) Press Win + R to open a Run window, and type: appwiz.cpl. 2) Hit Enter and find Symantec program, then right click on it to choose uninstall, then follow the wizard to completely uninstall Norton Antivirus. 3) Download the updated version from Norton Site. 4) Reinstall Norton Antivirus and do a full scan again. However, if neither of above works, you may need to do a reinstallation. By the way, sharing two articles with you. Help: I Got Hacked.
