My computer always looks for a wired connection, even though I do not have a dial-up or ethernet connection.
When I want to connect to a public wireless network, I often get a cannot display page notice, with the option to diagnose connection problems. When I follow these directions, it always thinks it is connecting to a wired connection. My computer does not even have a modem. Is there a way to set the default connection to a wireless connection?1 person got this answerI do too

Hi DAWickR, Thanks for posting. What is the exact error that is appearing that is leading you to beleive that it is looking for a wired connection? There is no way to set a default network connection but disabling the wired network adapter is fairly easy. To do this:1. Click your Start Button. 2. Right click your My Computer icon and select Explore. 3. In this window on the left side, Right Click the My Network Places and select Properties. 4. Here you should see your wireless and wired network adapters. 5. Right Click the wired adapter and select Disable. 6. To enable the adapter again, right click the same adapter and select Enable. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions. Shawn - Support Engineer - MCP, MCDST
