4. is not a bug, you have killed the parent iexplorer process. When you need to kill (but there is hardly a reason) a iexplorer process you need to identify the process related to the "frozen" tab using Task Manager - Resource Monitor and kill that process.11 is also no bug, a windows program who's main threaddoesn't pump it's message queue (because it's thread got blocked) will not terminate because it cannot handle the CLOSE message sent to it's main thread queue. This is true for all windows programs, irrespective the OS version they run on.

Hello Eric F., willy denoyettewilly denoyetteit is bug because I cannot find the way to identify freezed current page, because I can only identify ot by webpage title that I cannot see anywhere. Also if current tab freeze I still can switch tabs by previews and maybe with ctrl+tab, but when I click on other preview windows to activate other tab is popup again frized tab, so I can see other tabs when hover them but cannot activate them.I tried to close freezed active tab by clicking on close buton on preview window butbecause on bug 11 it do nothing,so I think this is bug

No it's not a bug, you have killed the "Frame Process", this process is the parent of all other Tab processes, if you kill this process the OS will tear down all it's children (the Tab processes), this is by design. You can find the offending process by usingthe Resource Monitor. You will need to exercise some activity in all the working tabs while looking atthe iexplore processCPU/Processes list , the one that does not show any CPU activity is the blocked process. Another way is by using the "Process Explorer" tool. However the best way to handle this is by using a debugger in order to find out why the process is frozen, but this is not expected from an end-users point of view (nor is killing a process). Also 11 is not a bug, a frozen Tab process (which is a regular UI Windows process)is no longer processing window messages (as it's main thread is blocked) so does never see the CLOSE message, more, if your process is stuck in the kernel ( driver code for instance) you won't be able to kill it either. This is standard Windows behavior and as nothing to do with W7.
February 6th, 2009 4:08am

But on other windows OS if process freeze and I try to close it it wait few seconds then closes and report error. In Windows 7 all processes stay freezed forever. In Xp for example I see freezed processes as not respondindI suppose this is the case whereproces cannot handle messages. In W7 some proces can stay freezed with hours and it is not reported as not responding.I will include this behaviour as nex bug I have found :)Why freezed current tab always popoup on working tabs and do not allow user to work with them? If fab that is not current freeze is is auto recovered

When you "close" a window you are actually sending a WM_CLOSE window message to the main thread of the application, when the application receives this message it has the chance to clean-up (saving files etc...) in it's message handler, when done it must return a value 0 as indication that he accepted the CLOSE request. If the application refuses to return 0 from it's message handler, the system will wait 30 seconds before displaying a message asking the userto stop the non responding, after witch the system tears down all other threads in the application (if any) and removes the process from the system. Now suppose, such an application has a thread (not the main thread) blocked in kernel (a bad driver in most cases), the main thread handles the WM_CLOSE message and return 0, everything is fine except it cannot remove the process as long as it has a thread blocked in kernel.See the difference.

HelloBentreeIf you really think my big list is helpful then maybe I can continue to fill my bug list. Problem is that if I do not write bug immediately I forget it. Bentreeand BrowniMFCReliability monitor have bug because it is available under View problem history, but from nowhere else. If you open reliability monitor and then copy its path and paste it in windows explorer it will not open. If you open something else item from control panel and then copy and paste its path in windows explorer it will open it. I have tried from few other location to open it without success. So it is really here but have bug colakidI know that you may have not some of the problems listed here, because of different factors, but they exists and are bugs. For example #25 Keyboard. You have not problem because you use USB keyboard, but I have PS/2 keyboard and it does not appear in devices and printers, so I call this bug :)I use w7 x64 and #3 is valid for me. You probably use W7 32bit version, but it must work in any case.#37 add items to start menu , but then they cannot be removed from there. #38 is for language bar. I cannot drag bars that appear at right of language bar and they to went at left on language bar

I;m saying I don't get those problems, I'm lucky plenty of times, I dont have behaviors like some get because I find ways to solve them. I was hoping I did get the problem to see if I could fix em so I was able to get a (post was helpful). I did not bother with IE, because IE8 just suckz so bad, frustrates me to a point where I want to bang my head off the keyboard. I agree with 4, 11, 17 and 35. Aside from the previous explanations if it was a bug or not, the point still remains that even in windows 7 there are still issues with freezing of applications, espcially alot with the tabs in internet explorer 8. By now I would have hoped that when such an event occurs, and the whole desktop freezes, I would still have the power of the windows task manager (either ctrl+shift+esc or ctrl+alt+delete) that could override all windows and events. Instead, after waiting for over a minute, hoping the situation resolve itself with a error message, I am forced to do a hard reboot every time. It's time "this bug" is resolved for good.I agree with 21. Perhaps a little more space could be created below an above the window.

17: I left my comp on for a week with a frozen app and the app stayed frozen for a hole week. Eventually I restarted the computer but it really is very annoying because if the same program was to freeze in vista than it would be solved in 30 seconds flat.So Microsoft make some changes!!!

28. IE8 frquently display errors like: When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop . Other error I got was that this forumwebsite is blocked by DEP :) caused by some pluginAbout #28, I can say that I've been suffering same issue in Vista x64 with previous beta IE8 builds. However, the problem vanished with IE8 Final version in Vista.I'm guessing that now IE8 has been released, those problems will be solved in W7 RC.W7 Beta running on an AMD Semprom 3200+ (1800Mhz) with 2 Gbs of RAM and a built-in Nvidia 6100 VGA, and mate, it runs like a charm! Also some major problems running Windows 7 beta (fully updated) on Boot Camp (with a new MacBook Pro): - No support for MacBook fan control, better then Vista but the computer still gets very very hot. - Windows 7 freeze once a day without no reason. - Very often the folders/desktop do not update without manually refresh. - Menu gets blank when moving icons. - Placing a secondary clock for eg. other country do not display correct timeformat. But I'm impressed by Microsoft, they are now only one light year behind OS X now instead of five :) But I do not understand why they not abandon IE, its a lost battle.

I've encountered problems with Windows 7 when my computer sits idle and goes to sleep. It stays frozen unless you hit the power button to put it to sleep and then hit the power button again. Also I have Cakewalk Pyro Audio Creator 1.5 and it has some compatibility issues I believe. When burning a CD from Cakewalk, windows pops up error "No disc in drive" but I can burn it off of iTunes.
