My Window 7 Cannot ping 127.0.0.1
About 2 weeks ago, I found my VS.net 2008 & 2010 suddenly start showing "cannot connect to asp.net development server" as I run any asp.net project. Then I tried some fix found online but still cannot make it work. Today, it turns out that I cannot even ping 127.0.0.1 (return message is "General failure.") which is quit surprising because my PC can ping other addresses and surf the internet with no problem at all. Things I've tried: - turn off windows firewall - turn off anti-virus (i uninstall it at last to make sure it is not the problem) - remove the line ::1 localhost in windows Host file - disable IPv6 on all adapter settings - Command > Type netsh int ip reset reset.txt and press Enter > Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter > Restart the computer - Command > sfc /scannow and press Enter (scan showed no findings) - disable IPv6 all together - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/92985 All these are not helping. The last system restore point turns out to be more than 6 months old. Is there anything else I can try?

1. Try updating your network driver. 2. Reinstall TCP/IP protocol driver go to device manager - view - hidden deevices - look now for "Non-Plug and play drivers" - "TCP/IP Protocol Driver" Right click on it and chose to uninstall.

Thanks for your suggestions. But the problem remains and I am now backing up my files and getting ready for a system restore....

Hi, If the issue still persists after performing a system restore. I suggest you try the following: 1. Please boot into Safe Mode and uninstall all your Network Adapter. 2. Manually install the latest version driver for NIC. 3. Reset TCP/IP, you can refer to How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Hope this helps. Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
