My VPN connection has stopped working after installing Windows 7 and Office 2010
It all stopped working a couple of weeks ago. Weird thing is that the connection works through a dongle, but not through my O2 wireless router.

You need to provide more information. The Crystal Balls are not functioning well today. Is this Cisco VPN? If so, did you get the lastest edition of the software from the Cisco website? What version of Windows 7 are you using? 32-bit or 64-bit?

It's a standard O2 broadband router - not Cisco and I'm on 64 bit windows. Although the VPN didn't start to fail until I also added Office 2010.

Isn't there some software being used to establish a secure link for the VPN?

Hi, After installing Windows 7, you should establish a new VPN connection or install a third party VPN client. Have you installed any third party VPN Client? If not, I suggest you create a built-in VPN Client via following steps. 1.Click Start button --> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Share Center --> Click "Set up a new connection or network" under the "Change your networking settings". 2.Select " Connect to a workplace" and click Next --> Use my internet connection (VPN) --> Type the internet address and destination name in the box --> Check 'Don't connect now; just set it up so I can connect later' and click Next --> Enter your VPN username and password --> Then click the 'Create' button --> Click the 'Close' button to finish. Thanks, but I tried all that to no effect. The VPN worked fine until a week or so ago with Windows 7 already installed. I wasn't sure if there had been some Windows udates that could interfere with the connection. The same connection works on the same laptop if I try and use a mobile broadband dongle.

Hi, Can you tell me the network topology for the Windows 7 machine? Does it connect Internet via a router or switcher? Since the VPN Connection is working fine when using a mobile broadband dongle, I suggest you bypass the router or switcher and connect to DSL Modem directly for a test. If the issue persists, please capture the error message and upload it here for research. Thanks, Novak
